Lots of these are extremely popular anymore. Some enthusiasts like to proudly display their coins in archival folders, while others prefer air-tight capsules, or mylar-lined 2x2's. Whatever you choose, do not store yours in the soft flips you frequently find in the marketplace. These are made from polyvinyl chloride which breaks down in time and destroys the coin it was to protect. Should you buy coins already in such a sleeve, transfer it as quickly as possible to something better. You may consider acetate flips, but realize that these are hard and might scuff the piece if it is not inserted and taken out carefully. While they aren't airtight, they're adequate alternatives for medium priced coins that will untouched for many years.
One thing is certain: regardless of wherever you decide to keep your coins, it'll always a source of continual enjoyment.
